Why we built it

Most rental shops in India run on a register, a WhatsApp thread and the owner's memory. That works until it doesn't — two customers promised the same sherwani for the same Saturday, a deposit nobody can find a record of, a tent set that came back four chairs short and no one noticed until the next booking.

The software that exists is either built for Western equipment-hire firms and priced accordingly, or it is a generic billing app that has never heard of a security deposit, a cleaning cycle or a part payment. Neither fits a tent house in Jaipur or a costume shop in Indore.

So we built for that shop instead: rupees, part payments, deposits, delivery and pickup, returns inspected piece by piece, and a phone as the primary device.

Who it is for

RentJinie is used by businesses that hire out physical goods and get them back — clothing and costumes, tent houses, electronics, laptops and computers, machinery, and furniture.

It suits a single-store shop with a few hundred items and it scales to an organisation running several stores with separate staff, because stores, inventory and staff permissions are built in rather than bolted on.

How we build

• Rupees first. Indian digit grouping, GST fields, UPI alongside cash, card and cheque.
• Mobile first. Owners confirm bookings from the shop floor and from wedding venues, not from a desk.
• The awkward parts included. Deposits that get forfeited, damage charges, late fees, cleaning cycles and part payments are the actual job — not edge cases.
• Your records stay yours. Everything important exports to Excel, whenever you want it.

Helping customers find you

Every shop can also choose to list itself on RentJinie, free. People looking for a tent house, wedding wear, sound or furniture nearby find listed shops on rentjinie.com and in the RentJinie app, see what they rent out, and send an enquiry for their dates.

The shop replies, gives its price and makes the booking in RentJinie as usual. Listing is optional — a shop that doesn't turn it on is never shown to the public.

What we do not do

We would rather be clear about the boundary than sell you a roadmap.

Customers cannot book or pay online through RentJinie. An enquiry is a request to the shop, not a booking — the shop confirms it and collects payment directly, the way it always has. We take no commission on bookings or on customers who find you through RentJinie, and we are not a party to the rental between you and your customer.
